ZECO - Zeco Holdings Limited
Zeco Holdings is a Harare-based engineering company established in 2007. Through its subsidiaries, Zeco builds rail wagons and locomotives for utilities in Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Kenya. The company also manufactures roller shutters, lift up garage doors, steel windows and door frames, burglar bars, and filling cabinets, as well as agricultural implements. In May 2008, Zeco acquired all the assets held by Corbett Holdings (Pty) Ltd and its operating subsidiaries, namely Electrical and Mechanical Suppliers and Importers Ltd, Halgor Estate, FaiT Lux, and Zimplastic Ltd. The company began trading on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange in February 2008 after raising Z$20.2 million from a fully subscribed issue. The value of the capital, however, was severely eroded by the prevailing hyper inflationary conditions of the time. In the 2013 fiscal year, the company's revenue declined by 60 percent from $1.5 million to $600,000 resulting in the suspension of its listing status on the Exchange when it failed to publish its annual financial report.
