    Please I am confused!

Why did UCAP close at 31 on July 31st and opened 1st August at the price of #10.

What caused the price slash? Was there a share split? Will the initial units of ones shareholding be increased times two?

    Please help.

It's because there was a 2-for-1 bonus share which cut the share price in half but doubled the shares outstanding. So the share price should have been around N15.50. However, the simultaneous dividend payout of 90 kobo caused a market correction the following day because of the closing of the register the previous day.

Even at today's market price, to any shareholder who had bought the stock a few years back will still laugh for the effect of market dynamics.
The last time I went to the market the price was N2.50. I rushed to sell at N5.00.
