Valterra Platinum Limited is the holding company for a group of companies which operate platinum mines. In addition to platinum, the Group mines and produces platinum group metals such as palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium, osmium, nickel, copper, and cobalt. As the world's leading primary producer of platinum group metals, Valterra's production accounts for 40% of the world's newly mined platinum. Its mining, smelting and refining operations are based in South Africa. Elsewhere in the world, the Group is ramping up Unki Platinum Mine in Zimbabwe and is actively exploring in Brazil. It has exploration partners in Canada, Russia and China. Valterra has a number of joint ventures with several historically disadvantaged South African consortia as part of its commitment to the transformation of the mining industry.
