The NewFunds GOVI Exchange Traded Fund (NFGOVI ETF) is a reinvesting ETF portfolio in the NewFunds Collective Investment Scheme, registered under the Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, 45 of 2002 and managed by NewFunds (RF) Proprietary Limited. The NFGOVI ETF tracks the FTSE/JSE GOVI Index, an index consisting of the top 10 bonds issued by the South African Government. The NFGOVI ETF seeks to provide investors with ample exposure to the top 10 RSA Government Bonds as is determined and calculated daily.

The NF GOVI portfolio declares a notional distribution to unitholders monthly, and reinvests the value of the notional distribution (which consists primarily of coupons and interest received from the underlying bonds issuers) into constituent securities of the GOVI Index. Such coupons and interest in respect of the distribution does not incur dividends tax as they are not considered as dividends. However, unitholders will be liable for income tax at their marginal rate of tax on the coupons and interest declared and deemed to have been received.

NOTE: Shares of NewFunds GOVI ETF have been delisted from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) since close of trading on Monday, March 13, 2023. NewFunds GOVI ETF was traded on the JSE under the ticker symbol “NFGOVI”. The International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) of JSE:NFGOVI was ZAE000161949. NewFunds GOVI ETF was the 238th most valuable stock on the JSE with a market capitalization of ZAR 1.19 billion, which made about 0.0058% of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange equity market at the time of delisting.
