The Newfunds Reitway Global Property ETF (JSE: NEWPRP) is a portfolio under the NewFunds Collective Investment Scheme in Securities managed by NewFunds (RF) Proprietary Limited. The GPR Reitway Global Property Index is maintained by Global Property Research B.V. in collaboration with Reitway Global (Pty) Ltd. The construction of the index is premised on the fact that the larger and more liquid property equities tend to track the General Equity sentiment and so, the individual price performances follow this trend, rather than the prevailing property fundamentals over certain periods of time. The Reitway Global Property Index therefore entails a methodology that (1) mechanically adjusts exposure to property stocks where general equity momentum has an impact on pricing and (2) selects a basket size based on momentum criteria – this, in order to enhance performance.
