The company, incorporated on January 22, 1976, is involved in the production and processing of crude palm oil. Its primary activity is the growing of oil palm and the processing of palm fruits to produce palm oil and palm kernel oil. Benso produces oil such as RBD Palm Oil, RBD Palm Olein, and vegetable oil mills, which have enabled it to control a large share of the market in West Africa. The company is also involved in the refinery of fats and oils. In 2004, the Ghana-based oil producing company patented a technology that converts waste food into nutritious food. Benso Oil Palm Plantation Limited is a subsidiary of Wilmar Africa Limited, producers of Frytol.
